In a Phoenix summer, a car that will not cool is more than an annoyance. Hardy Mechanics finds why your A/C stopped blowing cold and fixes it, whether it is a small leak or a bigger repair.
Signs you may need auto A/C repair
- Air from the vents is warm or only slightly cool
- Weak airflow, even on the highest fan setting
- The A/C works while driving but not at idle
- A musty or burning smell when the A/C is on
- Clicking, rattling or squealing when the A/C turns on
- Water leaking inside the cabin
What we do

Common questions
Why did my A/C stop blowing cold?
The most common cause is low refrigerant from a small leak, such as a worn o-ring or seal. Other causes include a failing compressor, a clogged filter or an electrical problem. A cooling test tells us which.
Is a recharge enough?
A system that has lost refrigerant has usually leaked, so we find and fix the leak first and then recharge. Otherwise the cold air tends to fade again.
When should I get my A/C checked?
Ideally before the summer heat peaks. If the air is already getting weaker, do not wait.
